Now 23, Gomez has managed the trick of shifting from teen pop star and Disney Channel princess to young adult diva in a manner that comes off with ease, though you know it’s anything but. And that, along with a quiver full of catchy dance-pop songs from “Revival,” her second solo and most recent album, made her show at Staples Center in Los Angeles on Friday a joy for the mostly full house.
She arrived on stage in silhouette behind a huge scrim, singing a bit of the title track to “Revival,” before the curtain dropped and in a burst of smoke and flashing lights she strutted confidently into view, performing “Same Old Love,” a catchy synth-driven number and one of three Top 10 singles from the current album.
